If you are considering a move to a new city, or you just want to try a different cuisine, you may want to consider a Lebanese restaurant for your next meal. In general, Lebanese cuisine is characterized by its simplicity and eclectic flavors. The dishes are not overly complicated and have an easy going freshness to them. Because of this, many local restaurants will offer you a sample of their cuisine before you make your final decision. You can also enjoy a leisurely dinner for two by trying various dishes with friends or family.
A Lebanese Restaurant Makes You Feel At Home
Typical Lebanese recipes include a variety of rice dishes – usually spiced with garlic and olive oil; pastas such as Arroz, Fettuccini Alfredo, or Vermicelli, which are made with Italian white beans; and vegetable dishes such as soups, meats, cheeses, and rice. As with most home cooked meals, a typical dish may consist of a selection of pasta and some meat or seafood. Many of these dishes use grape leaves or dates as their ingredients. The grape leaves can be dried in the sun or eaten fresh. The dates are soaked and mixed with honey and lemon juice to create a sweet, slightly sour drink.
In addition to using fresh ingredients, a Lebanese restaurant will also serve prepared food that is not only delicious, but whose preparation is simple. As with many home cooked meals, the most difficult part of the meal is simply getting all the ingredients together. In a restaurant, this task is easily accomplished as each course will be served with its own ingredient and often accompanied by a side dish. The most common side dishes include hummus or tahini, rice, vegetable dishes, and ice cream. Often, the ice cream is from a local dairy, such as cow’s milk, rather than an expensive and complicated frozen treat. This simplicity is what makes the dishes so inviting, while at the same time providing an abundance of flavor that is both traditional and unique.
